The Kimallus Earwarmer free crochet pattern is a fun companion to the Kimallus Cowl crochet pattern. The yarn is warm and cozy with a hint of sparkle woven through it, and the fur adds a little bit of polish and excitement to make this set perfect for cold holiday evenings. Kimallus means “glitter” in Finnish, and that’s what you’ll do when you wear this adorably simple earwarmer.
I really wanted something I could wear in the wintertime that was elegant and pretty, something that would be suitable for wearing to the Nutcracker Ballet or to the Opera. Faux Fur is just the perfect thing for a fancy night out, and this earwarmer won’t crush your hair like a hat would. None of us want hat hair at the ballet, do we?!?
But I also wanted to be WARM! We have 60-75 mph bitter cold winds here in Oklahoma in the wintertime, and it’s just painful to have the wind whipping through your ears. I needed something warm and thick that would keep the wind out too.
And so, the Kimallus Earwarmer was born! It fits all my criteria, including the one I hold about loving simple, QUICK crafts. This earwarmer only took me 30 minutes to make and it’s been lovely to have this winter.

Kimallus Earwarmer Pattern
Starting Round: With Go for Faux Yarn, chain (36, 40, 44). Slip stitch into first chain to form a circle, trying your best not to twist the chain. It’s hard to tell with the fur, but just do your best!
Round 1: SC into each chain around and slip stitch into the top of the first SC = (36, 40, 44) SC. Place a locking stitch marker into the top of the first SC. Note: If your chain is twisted when you get to the end, just straighten out the chain so that your stitches aren’t twisted, and slip stitch into the top of the first stitch. Your rounds should be straight from here on out.
Rounds 2-4: Chain 1, SC into top of first SC that you slip stitched into, then work 1 SC into each stitch around = (36, 40, 44) SC.
Finishing: Bind off and weave in ends.
And that’s it folks! A simple, beautiful, and cozy earwarmer perfect for the holidays or just those days when you want a little bling.
Happy yarning friends!!
